More and more recent discoveries suggest that the Ancient Sumerians represented the most technologically advanced ancient civilization in history.
It seems that they first arrived in Mesopotamia by ships, and settled in the Tigris and Euphrates because these areas were the best possible locations to live.

More than likely, the Sumerians were the first to use the bicycle, the first to invent irrigation systems, and apparently they were the first to invent writing.
Even today it is not known exactly where they came from. Some experts suspect that they came from somewhere in southern India.
