Meet MILAN: The Anti-Tank Weapon Used to Destroy Russia’s Tanks

Milan stands for missile d’infanterie léger antichar, or in English called Light Anti Tank Infantry Missile, manufactured by MBDA Missile Systems. The Milan design was first started in 1962 by French and German researchers. Milan’s first test-firing was carried out in 1971. Milan’s certification was finally obtained a year later.

For the first time, it became known about the appearance of the Milan ATGMs in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in April 2022. But until now, details about the appliance of such a 1970s system in the battles against the Russian invaders were extremely scarce.
